PTA Fundraising Efforts

When schools experience budget shortfalls, they must find creative fundraisers to make ends meet. School principals must marshal all their resources to help fund their schools, often calling upon the PTA to develop fundraising ideas. The National PTA can assist PTAs in presenting unique school fundraising ideas as well as strategies for running effective fundraisers.

For the novice—and even for the experienced PTA member—fundraising can be a complicated enterprise. To get through this sometimes-difficult terrain, PTAs and school administrators need guidance they can trust. Whether you’re looking for tips on choosing a vendor, garnering corporate support, or managing the fundraising proceeds, the National PTA provides expert advice on how to conduct effective fundraisers.

Every Dollar Counts

Westchase Elementary PTA works each year to raise funds. The money raised is used for the following items (approximate budgeted items):

PTA Dues    $2,000           7%
PTA Expenses (Insurance, Training, Copying)    $7,000          21%
Teacher Support (Conference Nights, Appreciation)               $8,000          29%
Programs/Events  $13,000          43%
 $30,000        100%
School Enhancement  $35,000
TOTAL 2016-2017 GOAL $65,000

Your PTA supports more than 25 programs and events as well as a Teacher Grant program, 5th Grade Activites, and Helping Hands.

2016-2017 School Enhancement Goal:  New Playground

2016-2017 FUNDRAISING ACTIVITIES:

Thanks to your help, in 2015-2016 we raised just over $25,000 toward a new playground as our School Enhancement initiative. However, the total cost is almost $60,000, with an additional $20,000 for a cover. So our School Enhancement goal continues to be raising money for our playground & cover.

The majority of our money is raised through the following Fundraising Activities:

Wizard Walk

On Friday, September 29th, your Westchase Elementary PTA kicked off Wizard Walk with an exciting student pep rally and we hope this year’s walk is even more fun than last year! Our goals are to have 100% participation from our students and to raise $50,000! The money raised will support these school improvements requested by our staff – replace current technology needs, replace the PE water fountains, upgrade the school water fountains, add a new shade cover to the other PE court and add new technology to our classrooms. Because Wizard Walk is fully-managed by PTA volunteers and school staff, more of the funds raised will directly benefit our school. The focus is less on toys and prizes and more on schoolwide and classroom incentives. So, get excited, get involved and reach out to friends and family to support you and your school! If every Wizard can raise just $55, we will be able to meet this goal.

They will representa  variety of interests and accomplishments. There will be many ways to earn a Spirit Stick (e.g., good grades, great behavior, exceptional attendance, etc.) and monthly opportunities to purchase limited edition sticks for just $1 in the courtyard. A Westchase ring & spirt stick will be given to each child at Open House. Box Tops

The Westchase PTA will hold two Box Top contests during the 2016-2017 school year. Did you know that every Box Top is worth 10-cents to our school? Please ask friends, family, and neighbors to support our school by cutting and saving Box Tops found on many grocery items and sending them in via a Westchase Elementary student. The students receive one entry for every 10 Box Tops and there are weekly drawings for gift cards and a grand prize drawing. The class that collects the most in each grade level will also receive an award. Thank you for supporting our school!

Our first Box Top Drive will run from September 26 – October 21, 2016. Our second Box Top Drive begins on January 23, 2017.
