What is the PTA?
The PTA (Parent Teacher Association) is a national advocacy group for children that is responsible for establishing the Kindergarten program, Hot & Healthy Lunches, Child Labor Laws, Arts in Education, and many more vitally important programs.
In addition to supporting these national programs, here at Westchase Elementary, the PTA is a wonderful group of teachers, volunteers, staff, board members and families just like you!
What does the PTA do?
The Westchase PTA proudly supports more than 25 programs and events throughout the year that directly benefit our students. Some of these programs include Veteran’s Day program, Winter Festival, Junior Achievement, and Reflections, just to name a few.
Working hand-in-hand with administration, teachers, and volunteers, the PTA is an incredible teamwork of people who want to help your child succeed!
If I join the PTA, am I required to volunteer at school?
Absolutely not. We love it when our families want to get involved and help out at school, but it is NOT a requirement. Some of the reasons we do think you would like to join include:
Communication – Being a member of the PTA is an excellent way to know what’s going on at your school. And because the PTA is designed as a “two-way-street” you will also have an effective way to suggest concerns or changes you would like to see at the school.
Connection – the PTA offers many ways to connect with other parents and get involved in the school. PTA functions provide opportunities to meet other parents, teachers, and administrators to discuss issues that are important to you.
There are no time commitments, expectations or experience required, you are simply showing your support for your child’s school. Membership is easy and low cost. All families and teachers can join for just $10. This covers all students in your household. There is only one price level for membership this year.
